Police in Westport, Massachusetts arrested four men on Monday after staff at the Hampton Inn discovered a bag containing suspected drugs in the hotel lobby, prompting a rapid investigation that exposed a small drug trafficking network operating out of the property.
Discovery Leads to Arrests
According to Westport Police, hotel staff reported the suspicious bag around 2 p.m. Officers reviewing lobby surveillance footage identified four men searching trash bins and walking through the area appearing to look for something they had misplaced. Police were later directed to one of two rooms rented by the group.
Inside, investigators found clothing that matched the description of the individual who dropped off the drugs. The four suspects were identified as Robert Noble of Fall River, Alexander Rebelo of East Providence, John Taylor III of Westport, and Andrew Massey of Middletown.
Warrants and Drug Possession
Officers reported that Rebelo, Noble, and Massey each had active warrants for their arrest. When questioned about the missing item, the men claimed they were looking for a cellphone. However, evidence later tied them directly to the narcotics left behind in the lobby.
During the arrest, Taylor and Noble reported medical issues and were taken to the hospital. A search of Taylor at the hospital uncovered 37 grams of methamphetamine, three Suboxone strips, and 10 unidentified pills. Rebelo was later found with eight grams of methamphetamine during booking.

- Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
- Trafficking controlled substances
- Possession of drugs
- Conspiracy to violate drug laws
Alexander Rebelo faced charges of:
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Conspiracy to violate drug laws
- Receiving stolen property
Rebelo was released on personal recognizance, while Massey and Noble were held on their outstanding warrants.
